School Workforce Census

The School Workforce Census is a new statutory return being introduced by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).  It is intended that this return will replace a number of current returns including the annual 618g Survey of Teachers in Service and the Luton Workforce Survey.

New census
Although the new census will not be used as a live return until 2010 we are required by the DCSF to begin submitting pilot returns as early as Jan 2009 in readiness.

This return will be similar to the PUPIL level data (School Census) in that it will be TERMLY, INDIVIDUALISED DATA and unlike the current 618g Survey will require data for certain SUPPORT STAFF.

This census requires 46 data items to be collected for each member of staff.  A full return will be required in the Spring Term and changes only in Summer and Autumn.

Supporting schools
This webage is specifically for all schools involved in the School Workforce Census.  Any associated documents used by the local authority or schools will be accessible via the links bulleted below, together with documents produced by the DCSF.
