In practical terms in Luton this means that the organisations involved with providing services to children (local authority, health services, schools, police, voluntary groups etc) will be teaming up in new ways to protect children and young people from harm and help them achieve what they want in life.
The programme supports new multi agency working to ensure that children and young people who have additional needs achieve better outcomes and have a better experience of services through the provision of integrated support. One of the ways Luton is making this happen is through the formation of Multi-Agency Family Support Panels. These panels take a look at the bigger picture in terms of a child/family who is being supported by a number of local agencies, they can then advise on any gaps in service as well as being able to apoint a ‘Lead Professional’ to give that child/family a single point of contact across all agencies they are receiving services from.
