Black Pupil Achievement

The DCSF through the National Strategies produced the following resources:

  • Ensuring the attainment of Black pupils folder, which is used in secondary schools
  • A toolkit for primary schools called Excellence and Enjoyment: learning and teaching for Black children in the primary years and Ensuring the attainment of Black pupils.
  • For Early Years’ pupils, Building Futures: Believing in children – A focus on provision for Black children in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The main aim of these materials is to provide guidance and encourage schools to raise standards to accelerate the progress of Black African, Black Caribbean heritage children or any mixed Black background. The materials invite all practitioners to reflect on the quality of provision and promote inclusive practice in all facets and aspects of school life.

In this area of the EMA website you will have access to resources and websites that will enhance and supplement your teaching and current practice.
